Emission Controls
Technologies used at WTE facilities to remove pollutants from flue gas before it is released to the atmosphere.
Modern WTE emission control systems include selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) or selective catalytic reduction (SCR) for nitrogen oxides, activated carbon injection for mercury and dioxins, dry or semi-dry scrubbers for acid gases (SO₂, HCl), and fabric filter baghouses for particulate matter. These systems reduce emissions to levels far below EPA standards and often below those of coal or natural gas power plants.
